Summer is where athletes grow.
It’s where skills are sharpened, confidence is built, teammates become friends, and young athletes begin to see what might be possible beyond the field, court, mat, or track. But those opportunities don’t happen on their own. Thanks to a generous gift from Heisman Trophy winner and Fields & Futures Board Member Sam Bradford – who has helped fuel summer opportunities for Oklahoma City kids for the last three years – we were able to help bring those opportunities to life for thousands of kids across Oklahoma City’s urban core this summer.
Through our partnerships with OKCPS Athletics, community organizations, coaches, sponsors, and donors, we hosted and supported 20+ camps, clinics, and summer leagues across 12 sports, creating more than 4,000 student-athlete engagements throughout the summer.
We Fueled the Opportunity.
Fields & Futures helped make it possible for more kids to participate, removing barriers and providing the support needed to make summer sports opportunities accessible and meaningful.
With support from sponsors like Simple Modern and partners like Cleats for Kids, athletes had access to resources that supported their participation and helped them feel prepared to take part. We helped support league fees, meals, nutrition, officials’ fees, camp registrations, transportation-related needs, coaching development, and more.
Because getting kids on teams is only part of the equation. We want to help create the conditions for them to participate, grow, and succeed once they get there.
What Community Support Made Possible
From football and basketball to tennis, golf, soccer, track & field, cheer, softball, volleyball, and wrestling, summer programming gave Oklahoma City student-athletes more opportunities to play, compete, learn, and grow.
Each camp, clinic, and league created a different opportunity – but the goal was the same: more kids experiencing the benefits of being part of a team.
Cheer: 400+ Athletes, One Big Opportunity
More than 400 cheer participants took part in summer programming, experiencing full-day nutrition, team-building, quality instruction, and the support needed to fully participate.
From practice uniforms and meals to coaches and mentors, community support helped bring this large-scale experience to life.
Because sometimes creating opportunity means taking care of the details that make it possible for a student-athlete to simply show up, feel prepared, and know they belong.
Soccer: More Ways to Compete
An inter-district summer league brought together athletes from NW Classen, Capitol Hill, Classen SAS, and U.S. Grant, creating opportunities to compete outside the traditional school-season structure.
Fields & Futures and generous community partners helped support league fees, apparel, and other program needs, making it possible for more student-athletes to participate and proudly represent their schools.
Track & Field: Building More Than Athletes
Through summer track & field programming, student-athletes had opportunities to train, compete, and challenge themselves alongside athletes from across the district.
With coaches and community partners helping lead the way, these experiences reinforced the lessons that make sports so powerful: discipline, perseverance, confidence, and the belief that you can always go a little farther.
And So Much More
Across 12 sports, summer programming created thousands of opportunities for Oklahoma City kids to try something new, sharpen their skills, compete with teammates, and discover what they’re capable of.
For some athletes, it was a chance to prepare for the upcoming school season. For others, it was their first experience with a new sport. And for many, it was simply the opportunity to spend a summer surrounded by coaches, teammates, and a community invested in their future.
That’s what community support makes possible.
And We’re Just Getting Started.
Summer 2026 was a powerful reminder of what happens when a community comes together around Oklahoma City kids.
Fields & Futures helped provide the resources while our coaches and partners brought the expertise. Our sponsors helped remove barriers, and our donors made it all possible. Together, we created more opportunities for more kids to play, grow, compete, and dream.
Now, we’re taking that momentum into the school year.
Because more kids on more teams isn’t just a summer goal. It’s the work we do every day—and every opportunity brings us one step closer to our goal of 50% sports participation among OKCPS students by 2030.
Thank you for fueling the future.
