2017 Cheer Clinic

Sep 7, 2017

On Saturday, August 19, more than 250 athletes, coaches, and volunteers from 16 OKC schools tumbled into Heritage Hall for the 2nd Annual OKCPS Cheer Clinic.

The clinic was funded and coordinated by a Fields & Futures cheerleading committee of 10 community volunteers. Thanks to their efforts, the second-year event saw a 40% increase in athlete/coach attendance over the previous year, helping fulfill a Fields & Futures goal to get more kids on teams in every sport.

Varsity teamed up with Fields & Futures to provide top notch instruction to all athletes in attendance. The squads started with the basics and ended the day performing their favorite cheers and chants in front of their peers.

Many OKCPS Varsity Cheer Squads will be attending the OSSAA Gameday Competition on September 9th at Moore High School. With the help from the Varsity staff, the squads are taking what they learned from the clinic and will be performing it in front of a huge crowd at Gameday Competition!

Thank you to all of our sponsors for making the day completely free of charge for ALL cheerleading programs in Oklahoma City Public Schools.

Cheers!

Hope in Action at the 2024 Kansas Relays

Thanks to the Simon Greiner Program, eight talented student-athletes and four coaches from John Marshall's 2023 5A state champion sprint relay teams were given a life-changing opportunity to compete on a national stage at one of the oldest and most prestigious track meets in the country, the 2024 Kansas Relays. The trip was more than just a reward for their accomplishments; it was a vivid demonstration of "Hope in Action."

Beyond 500: Coach Patrick Cudjoe Teaches Winning On and Off the Court

John Marshall boys basketball coach Patrick Cudjoe recently eclipsed 500 career wins, a milestone only a dozen other active coaches have reached. With deep roots in Oklahoma City Public Schools as a student, athlete, educator, coach, and parent, his impact on the OKCPS community continues to extend far beyond the court.

Cheering on Our Cheer Captain, Mandi Dotson

Mandi Dotson has been part of the Fields & Futures story since the very beginning, loyally and enthusiastically cheering for us through our biggest wins. Now, it's our turn to cheer on our resident cheer captain as she continues to grow the sport in her role as Director of Cheer & Youth Sports Advocate.
