Thank you, Lopez Foods!

Fields & Futures is excited to announce a major gift from Oklahoma City-based Lopez Foods, Inc., in support of the improvements and continued maintenance at the soon-to-be-completed U.S. Grant High School sports complex.

With a new artificial turf softball field just completed and a new turf baseball field to follow in Summer 2021 – combined with the recently completed football/soccer field and track – the Lopez Foods Sports Complex at U.S. Grant High School is scheduled for completion by Fall 2021.

Understanding the power of sports to help teach important life lessons and give students the opportunities they deserve to grow and learn as individuals, Lopez Foods’ support of the long-term field maintenance program at U.S. Grant High School will help ensure future generations of young Generals will be playing on quality, well-maintained fields long into the future.

In a video message for the #WhyWeCareOKC campaign, Lopez Foods CEO Ed Sanchez explains the life lessons he learned from sports and why Lopez Foods supports the Fields & Futures mission to put more kids on teams by building quality athletic fields for Oklahoma City Public Schools.

“Sports played a key role in my life, by teaching me several things: Discipline – show up on time, train hard; Teamwork – working with others toward a common goal; and how to win and lose, graciously. I’m excited to see Oklahoma City Public Schools get quality, well-maintained facilities, knowing it gives kids an opportunity to grow physically and emotionally through sports,” said Sanchez.

Added John Patrick Lopez, Lopez Foods president, “On behalf of Lopez Foods’ employees and staff, we are proud to add our name to the list of partners committed to this mission.”

A gift that will keep on giving for generations to come!

The trip was more than just a reward for their accomplishments; it was a vivid demonstration of "Hope in Action."
