For the third straight summer, Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) is rolling out an ambitious lineup of sports camps, clinics, and summer leagues. Remarkably, just three years ago, the summer months were a sports desert without any free camp or clinic offerings for OKCPS athletes. Thanks to a steadfast partnership between OKCPS, Fields & Futures, and a widening circle of community partners, this year’s summer programming will give 3,000 or more urban core kids more sports, more access, and more pathways than ever before.
The idea behind summer programming is simple: when kids have clear pathways to play the sports they love, participation rates rise, leagues thrive, and young athletes stay connected to their school and community. It’s the same mindset that drives our work to build sport-specific pathways and underpins the Pathway Partner program, which rallies high-level supporters to commit to tailored giving plans focused on making sports equitable for all children.
