Power of Sports – Presented by Group One Thousand One

Sep 10, 2017

Making its national debut on FOX Sports Southwest and other participating FOX Sports regional networks this past week, Power of Sports was created to share inspiring stories of people, organizations and communities connecting through sports to create opportunities for youth to join teams and find the motivator they need to go to school, stay in school and prepare for life beyond the classroom.

See PowerofSports.TV for more information and to view two segments from the September show (Fields & Futures; OKC Police Athletic League).

Thanks to the generous support of Group One Thousand One, formerly known as Delaware Life Holdings, Fields & Futures will benefit in two significant ways:

1.  A 2-minute segment in each month’s show, featuring an individual impacted by a new athletic field and all it represents … a great opportunity to expand message reach and inspire new donor support.

2.  The opportunity to offer a unique recognition benefit to five (5) corporate donors who could benefit from a national message platform. NOTE: In just the month of September, Power of Sports will air a total of 63 times across 33 states. As always, 100% of each donor gift goes directly to field construction, maintenance or programs (100% of Fields & Futures overhead is funded by a private grant). If interested, please email or call Dot Rhyne at 405-605-9550; [email protected].

Reminder: Group One Thousand One is matching all new gifts to Fields & Futures 1:1 up to $1.5 million over the next 3 years (2017-2019)!

Keeping Girls in the Game: Supporting Female Student-Athletes Matters More Than Ever

Every spring, OKCPS sports fields and tracks buzz with the energy and promise of a new season. Yet behind this excitement lies a troubling trend: sports participation among female students drops by 8% as they transition to high school, while boys' participation jumps to 35%. Find out why keeping girls in the game when they're at their most vulnerable is one of our biggest priorities and what we're doing to put more girls on more teams.

Swinging Into Spring Sports

Spring sports are in full swing in Oklahoma City Public Schools, and it's the busiest sports season of the year. 4,176 OKCPS students played sports last spring, and that number is certain to be even higher this year. This spring, Fields & Futures programs will support coaches and athletes participating in track & field, golf, soccer, and cheer through OKCPS, the YMCA, and OKC PAL.
