Fields & Futures recently partnered with OKCPS Athletics to host the inaugural High School Indoor Golf Championship, creating a new and exciting opportunity for student-athletes across the district. This first-ever indoor championship brought together 33 participants from seven Oklahoma City Public Schools boys and girls golf teams, showcasing the continued growth of golf in OKCPS.
A New Way to Compete
The High School Indoor Golf Championship provided student-athletes with a unique and competitive championship experience while highlighting Fields & Futures’ commitment to putting more kids on more teams. By supporting innovative events like this one, we are helping expand access to sports and creating new pathways for students to participate and succeed.
“We’re thrilled to introduce our scholar-athletes to the game of golf,” said Kely Walk, Assistant Athletic Director of Recreational Sports and PE at OKCPS. “Thanks to our incredible partnership with Fields & Futures, we can provide these unique experiences that challenge our athletes and help them grow both on and off the field.”
Championship Results
On the boys side, the Capitol Hill Red Wolves claimed the championship banner with 64 total points, while the Classen SAS boys earned Runner-Up honors. On the girls side, the Classen SAS Lady Comets secured the championship banner with 83 total points, and the John Marshall Lady Bears finished as Runner-Up.
Individual event champions also delivered strong performances across the competition:
- Girls Long Drive Champion – Kinley Richenberger, Classen SAS
- Boys Long Drive Champion – Malcolm Edd, John Marshall
- Girls Closest to the Pin Champion – Yaiza Gonzales, Southeast
- Boys Closest to the Pin Champion – Johnathan Pineda, Southeast
- Girls Putting Champion – Abril Garcia, Southeast
- Boys Putting Champion – Asher Sharples-Borges, Classen SAS
