Simon Greiner Program Sends OKCPS Athletes to K-State Relays

Apr 29, 2026

Fields & Futures’ Simon Greiner Track & Cross Country Program (SGP) continues to create opportunities for OKCPS student-athletes to compete at the next level — and this past month was no exception.

Thanks to SGP support, the Douglass High School girls sprint relay team traveled to Manhattan, Kansas to compete in the K-State Relays earlier this month, one of the region’s premier track and field events. Representing the 405 with pride, the Trojanettes delivered an impressive performance, finishing 8th in the highly competitive 4×100-meter relay.

Expanding Opportunities Beyond Oklahoma

Each year, the Simon Greiner Program selects an OKCPS team to support with an out-of-state competition experience — covering travel, lodging, registration, and meals. These opportunities go beyond the track. They expose student-athletes to higher levels of competition, build confidence, and create lasting memories that extend well beyond race day.

For many of these athletes, it’s not just about competing — it’s about seeing what’s possible.

More Than a Race

The Trojanettes’ trip to the K-State Relays is a powerful example of what happens when access meets opportunity. Competing against top programs from across the region, these student-athletes showcased their talent, discipline, and pride in representing their school, their teammates, and their city.

Moments like this are exactly what the Simon Greiner Program is designed to create — opening doors for student-athletes in OKC’s urban core and helping them grow both on and off the track.

Growing Track & Field in the 405

As track and cross country continue to gain momentum across OKCPS, Fields & Futures remains committed to removing barriers and expanding access to the sport. From supporting teams at major meets to building sustainable pathways for participation, the goal is simple: more kids on more teams.

If you’re interested in helping create opportunities like this for student-athletes across Oklahoma City, we invite you to get involved. Learn more and support the Simon Greiner Track & Cross Country Program:
