Every spring, OKCPS sports fields and tracks buzz with the energy and promise of a new season. Yet behind this excitement lies a troubling trend: sports participation among female students drops by 8% as they transition to high school, while boys' participation jumps to 35%. Swinging Into Spring Sports
Spring sports are in full swing in Oklahoma City Public Schools, and it's the busiest sports season of the year. 4,176 OKCPS students played sports last spring, and that number is certain to be even higher this year. This spring, Fields & Futures programs will support coaches and athletes participating in track & field, golf, soccer, and cheer through OKCPS, the YMCA, and OKC PAL.

What Drives Capitol Hill and U.S. Grant Football?
U.S. Grant and Capitol Hill may be rivals, but their football programs have more in common than their annual "Southside Bedlam" rivalry game. From 2014-2020, the OSSAA allowed both programs to play as independents so they could create their own schedules and rebuild their programs. Now playing in Class 6A, neither team has found success in district play, but they also know the scoreboard isn't the only standard of success.
New OKCPS Stadium to Be Named McLaughlin Family Stadium
The OKCPS School Board voted to name the district's newest stadium McLaughlin Family Stadium, in honor of Fields & Futures founders Tim and Liz McLaughlin, who have completed 70 construction projects at 17 OKCPS campuses.
