In 2011, when Fields & Futures co-founder Tim McLaughlin asked OKCPS Athletic Director Keith Sinor how he planned to rebuild athletic fields and programs across the district, in order to grow student participation in sports, Keith’s honest answer was, “I don’t know, but this is what needs to happen.” The rest is history. The Fields & Futures Booster Club was born!

Fast forward. Today, OKCPS students join teams knowing they will play and compete on quality, maintained fields, courts, and tracks – all thanks to you! It has taken a small army of donors, partners, and supporters to level the playing field for these kids, giving them the sports experience they deserve. More kids on more teams means more kids benefiting from all that sports have to offer, putting them on a proven pathway to graduation and success beyond high school.

But the work didn’t stop with restored fields. Along the way, we have had the privilege of seeing the very real impact of sports in a kid’s life and know it will take an even larger army of supporters to meet the needs of our city’s urban core youth. To them, it’s simple – team is family. A team is where they make friends and learn to work together. It’s where they are provided resources and experiences they may not get otherwise. It’s where those special moments happen that can change the trajectory of a young person’s life.

At the end of the day, everything matters to these kids, and we consistently see them rise to the occasion.

Today, we are excited to launch a citywide effort to grow the F&F Booster Club. Just as we talk about wanting more kids on more teams, we will always need more boosters to support more kids. A donation of any amount automatically makes you a member!

Donate today to join the F&F Booster Club and see how the power of many can put #MoreKidsOnMoreTeams!

Keeping Girls in the Game: Supporting Female Student-Athletes Matters More Than Ever

Every spring, OKCPS sports fields and tracks buzz with the energy and promise of a new season. Yet behind this excitement lies a troubling trend: sports participation among female students drops by 8% as they transition to high school, while boys' participation jumps to 35%. Find out why keeping girls in the game when they're at their most vulnerable is one of our biggest priorities and what we're doing to put more girls on more teams.

Swinging Into Spring Sports

Spring sports are in full swing in Oklahoma City Public Schools, and it's the busiest sports season of the year. 4,176 OKCPS students played sports last spring, and that number is certain to be even higher this year. This spring, Fields & Futures programs will support coaches and athletes participating in track & field, golf, soccer, and cheer through OKCPS, the YMCA, and OKC PAL.
