History was made at the 2024 Stars Mile Night featuring the Simon Greiner Elite Mile. In addition to the first sub-4-minute mile ever recorded on an outdoor track in Oklahoma, a record crowd witnessed a night full of Mile Night records and Oklahoma bests.
Last year, we teamed up with Oklahoma City University XC/TF with the idea of creating a unique running event that brings together runners of all ages, skills, and experience levels. This idea became the OCU Stars Mile Night and Simon Greiner Elite Mile. With more runners, faster times, and the first-ever Simon Greiner Program Scholarships, OCU Stars Mile Night shined even brighter in year two.
The inaugural OCU Stars Mile Night got off to a perfect start with more than 150 runners from OKCPS and around the state participating in 12 heats. The night was anchored by the Simon Greiner Elite Mile men's and women's races with OCU's Shimales Abebe clocking a 4:07, the fastest time in Oklahoma this year.
